Literacy Night

We got a flyer home a while ago about a Literacy Night at school. This was to help teach parents of kindergarteners and first grade parents how to help. Their children to read. So I signed up. I finally got to meet Miss Rigby’s teach. She is a little kookie but she seems to know what she is talking about. I like her classroom. There was no real time for one-on-one. We got to meet each of the 4 kindergartener teachers and see their rooms. Not all were equal. There was one teacher I am glad Rigby did not get she seems very dictator and harsh. Mrs. Dilione (her teacher) is all about positive reinforcement and rules. That I like. I did not learn anything I did not know at this event. But things that I need to go over with her like “what is a period?” “title page?” “author?” ect… When writing not to worry about spelling but that she starts at the top left and writes across then starts next line at the left. These seem like very simple concepts, but that is because we they are natural for us/me now. Forget that you have to LEARN these concepts.
